How to Cosy Up Your Home for Winter

dddIMG_8441.jpg?w=655&h=1024&scale

It seems like only yesterday we were all looking for ways to keep our bedrooms cool so we could get a bit of shut eye. Suddenly, it’s now all bed socks and baths. Winter is on its way.

Whether you want to keep those soaring energy bills down, or you simply want your home to feel a little cosier, we have the answers.

No fire, no wood-burner? No problem. Not turning on the heating until November 1st? You can do this. Here are a few tips on how to create a welcoming and warm living space.

Candles, candles everywhere

You can never have too many candles. Now the evenings are drawing in, they’re not only the ultimate accessory, but necessary for cosiness. They produce warmth as well as soft, ambient light and come with a host of other, unexpected benefits.

Introduce autumn colours

Reds, golds and oranges are all warming hues, make the most of them in your home with gorgeous autumn faux foliage. (And for more reasons why faux stems are better than the real deal, read our article here.)

Browns too have the same effect. And if you think you couldn’t possibly embrace brown in your home – here’s how to do it perfectly with the Americano trend

If deep hues aren’t your thing, you can still give a nod to the season with our autumn collection featuring gorgeous ceramic pumpkins in muted and soft tones.

Swap you textures

Out with the linen and in with the chunky knits. And we don’t just mean for clothes.

Choose warm blankets and throws to snuggle under or to just place over furnishings for texture. When you’re not using them, fold them up and keep them in a basket by the sofa.

Remind yourself of sunnier climes

If the drizzle outside and the biting cold is leaving you deflated, bring elements of warmer places into your home. Middle Eastern-inspired homewares are a great way to spice up your decor.

Reminiscent of heady Moroccan souks, our ornate mirror sets might help you forget about the chill outside (or they might get you wandering over to Skyscanner…)

Indulge in hot drinks in gorgeous mugs

Wrapping your hands around a mug of something hot does wonders for the soul. (If you’re not a hot drink person, now is the time to embrace pumpkin soup!)

Make sure your mugware is up to scratch so you can slurp your hot bevvies in style. Our mug collection at Pretty Little Home is extensive, but if you want to keep the autumn theme alive, don’t miss our beautiful pumpkin mugs which come in a range of colours.

Make sure those coffee and hot chocolate stains are kept at bay though – read our article here on the best stain-removal methods

. . .

Pretty Little Home has a wide range of autumn and winter homewares to help you create the perfect, cosy, shabby chic interior.
