How to Embrace the Autumn Americano Trend in Your Home

If summer is all crisp whites and the odd pop of colour, autumn is deep, rich hues: If summer is sparkling water and strawberries, autumn is a caffè americano.

The americano trend is about coffee-inspired interiors (no we’re not just talking about specialist coffee, mugs and machines, but those come into it).

It’s about embracing rich tones in your interior decor and creating a sense of warmth – with a hint of luxe.

What does americano-style decor look like?

Cream blankets thrown over espresso-toned couches… Fluffy white rugs on dark parquet floors… Brown leather or velvet upholstery… Earthen-toned lamp shades…

Even for non coffee drinkers, the americano interiors trend is an inviting one. And one that’ll be sure to blast away those post-summer blues.

Whether yours is a rustic cottage or a modern semi-detached house, you can make the trend work for you. The key is to choose either a brown backdrop with cream furnishings or vice versa – never both.

Alternatively, if four walls of brown seem intimidating, choose one accent wall. Painting one wall in a warm brown hue will perfectly highlight the nearby furnishings.

If you’re looking for decorative elements to add to a room, here are some of our favourite Americano-style homewares to help you along the way.

Recycled elm coffee table

This delightfully distressed coffee table brings vintage pizazz to your living room. The charming tables work for all seasons but look sumptuous as part of a coffee interior scheme.

Their taupe colour is light enough for fresh summer styles and dark enough to suit cosy autumnal interiors.

Taupe cross leg coffee table

Made from recycled pine, this classic, taupe cross leg coffee table nails the americano trend (as well as the Hamptons one).

Taupe is a versatile shade that complements almost all colours from brights to browns. Grey-brown itself, it’s the ideal shade if you’re not ready to leap into dark colours.

Glass pumpkin jars filled with pine cones…

… or other such objects in browns, taupes or creams). If you’re worried about a brown interior looking too austere, natural elements such as pine cones, acorns or assorted pot pourri will soften a room.

If natural objects are hard to come by, faux natural works just as well.
